Spieth's Back At It Again With the Birdies

Hello all,

It is finally here! Day one of the Masters is over and we see some familiar faces on top of the leader board, as well as some that are not so familiar. Spieth looked like his former self from 2015 and took the lead on day one. He shot a bogey-free six under 66 round on Thursday to take the lead. This is the best score for a defending champion since 1995 when Jose Maria Olazabal did it. The tournament favorite, Jason Day, came out strong and started 5 under until he hit the 15th hole. Day bogeyed 15, triple bogeyed 16 and bogeyed 17 to finish at even par. A surprising name that played well is Bryson DeChambeau. Look for this amateur golfer to continue to make a push for the cut and be in the running for a green jacket as an amateur.

Other than golf, Augusta National Golf Club was buzzing with patrons throughout the course. There was never a dull moment there and reports say there were over 50,000 people on the grounds at a time. Resale value of a badge for yesterday's tee times was exceeding over $1,000 for some people. This years Masters tournament is off to a blazing start and there are many more exciting and memorable moments to be had! Other than golf and the concession stands, the Pro Shop saw record numbers and lines up to 30 - 45 minutes long at some points, just to get in! While many patrons were there for the golf just as many were there to shop and many of them did.

After day one, there were a few trends in purchases and some of the items were going so quick it was hard for the Pro Shops to keep up with the demand. The HOTTEST item of 2016 Masters merchandise is no doubt the green performance reflective hat. Normally, the caddies wear the traditional green slouch caddy hat. This year Augusta National has decided to let the caddies wear these performance hats and the numbers show it. People from all over the world are flocking to get this hat so be sure to check these out while you are on our site!
